Recording Bass Digging Deeper Page

Step 1:

Open up your saved Audacity project file from the previous activity.

Step 2:

Check levels by clicking Pause and Record simultaneously.  Unclick pause and record the bass part from the bass amplifier.  Do not try to plug the bass directly into the computer—this will fail.)  Be sure to listen to the click track and drum tracks on headphones as you record.

(Optional:  Consider using a digital audio interface and a direct box to record your bass for a more professional sound.   See more info here:

Step 3:

Remove noise.  You should know how to do this by now, but if not, check back to Activity 4: Step 6.

Step 4:

Save your recording and upload it to this activity on FreshBrain.  Choose File > Export and save your recording as an mp3.  Now upload your recording to FreshBrain so that we can hear your work!  Be sure to keep your project file so that you can use it for the next activity in this learning path.
