For the past year and a half I have had a photography class which has allowed me to experiment with Photoshop. Unfortunately, this class is much different from the Graphic Design class which my schedule does not allow me the privilege. Though I more often than not incorporate my own photos into my graphic design experiments, I have trouble simply deriving amazing graphics from raw, empty canvasses. I experimented with the Album Art Contest, but I still do not know all the tools of the trade when it comes to using Photoshop. Even simple web tutorials are insufficient to fulfill my needs. Unfortunately, my photo class last year had a teacher who was fairly new to the curriculum, and failed to teach us several basic tools and concepts (how the heck do you use the mask tool???). I have a few friends are are very adept at Photoshop, however they cannot bring themselves to simplify terminology or do "baby steps" as I require. I'm lost at how to come up with some of the amazing effects all of you do. Although it must be practically impossible to learn EVERYTHING about this program, perhaps anyone who reads this could suggest to me any simple but impressive techniques to apply to my graphic design experiments, and their names.
