There was a great (or maybe depressing) article in the San Jose Mercury News yesterday called Summer slide: Low-income students can lose ground when school is out.
In short, this says there is a growing divide between those who have and those who don't. Those who have will be doing things like taking classes or going to camps to advance their education over the summer, leaving those who don't further and further behind. This gap can grow year by year to the point where some in the 9th grade are 3 1/2 years behind their peers.
This is aweful. But FreshBrain can help. We eliminte the digital divide by providing a site where teens can explore, engage and create together with their friends - for FREE.
